GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

Residents are expected to attend all clinics, didactics, case discussions and other experiences as scheduled. Significant efforts have been made to provide worthwhile clinical experiences for resident education despite vacations, meetings, and absences due to callback or continuity deliveries. Absences for these reasons and for significant illness or emergency will be approved when appropriate. Unapproved absences will usually require the resident to make up the clinical time missed and may result in failure to pass the rotation.
This policy is in place in order to ensure that arranged experiences will continue to be available to our residents, as preceptors have made special arrangements to be available for teaching.

VACATION POLICY

Residents are permitted to take one week of vacation during the outpatient pediatric rotations. Vacation dates must be submitted at least 35 days prior to the start of the rotation. These should be submitted to Cinnie Chou, or in her absence, Karen Alingog, via email. Vacation requests cannot be honored if they are not submitted 35 days prior to the rotation start.

ILLNESS/EMERGENCY LEAVE

In the case of illness, please page or e-mail the rotation coordinator as soon as possible so that the preceptors can be made aware of the absence.
If you happen to be sick on a day you are scheduled for the RiBit clinic, please call Ernestine Cuyler at 925-370-5216 or JoAnn Valencia at 925-370-5036, so that the preceptor can be paged.
